The Wizards of Middle-Earth were sent down from Ainur to help guide the world during their battle against Sauron.
The six know wizards were Saruman the White, Gandalf the Grey, Radagast the Brown, and two other wizards that end with the Blue.
They are have staffs and chose their physical appearance when they were sent down.
